SS-Scharführer Johan Dieter risked a quick peak over the top of the trench at the firing .30 cal MG these Allied soldiers were utilizing. It was their MG that was the biggest threat at present and the item that was ultimately preventing a storming of the enemy bunkers. Fortunately, the enemy had yet to take full advantage of the field and were huddling behind their bunkers. The MG had a rather clear shot over most of the trench that Johan and his men were also currently using for cover. To his left was a clear opening. Should the enemy attempt to use it as route of advance, they would have no cover and remain at the mercy of the defending German troopers. Likewise, with that MG and all those enemy troops at the ready, an advance by Germans along that side of the field was suicide. The same held true for the central portion of the map. Thus, that left only one route, to the right of Johan near that old abandoned house. Both the enemy and German troops could possibly use it as a means of advance, but it would be risky still. At present, Johan and his men had the trench line fully covered while Rolf and his men, and Xavier were more in a reserve position. Already, the German mortar teams that were there had been directed on two advance zones to attempt to pin the enemy in place and, more than anything else, to prevent their advance. He had directed one to focus on the central bunker in an effort to suppress and hopefully knock out that MG. The high arc and walking forward of the rounds would hopefully score the necessary hit on just the other side of that bunker. The second mortar had been given the order to bombard the bunker furthest to the right to stop those enemy troops from advancing. If they were lucky, they might also score that final blow hit on the right-most bunker. Stepping down from the wall of the trench, Johan turned and yelled: "Rolf Reinhard! Reinhard, front and center!" While he waited for Reinhard to move up to himself, Johan turned to the nearest soldier on the trench wall. "Lutz, run and tell Wolfgang and Maurer to move up using the cover of that house to protect them from the MG and secure our side of the house. Break any remaining windows and pull open the doors. I want that house covered and the prevention of any enemy movement through that portion of the field." After a salute, Lutz turned and bolted as fast as he could down the trench to inform the two troopers to move up to the house. Once Reinhard arrived, Johan leaned in close so as to be heard over all the weapon fire. "Reinhard, I want you to take your men and follow Wolfgang and Maurer as they move up to the house. They are going to secure the outside nearest us. I want the house secured and fortified as much as possible without endangering you or your men. Your goal at present is to hold it and use your accuracy to take out as many enemy troops in that central bunker as you can, especially the MG if you get the opportunity. Hold the house until I give additional orders. Now go." As Reinhard took off to tend to his orders, Johan moved over to Lindenhoppel. "Lindenhoppel, I want you to take command of 5th squad (the 5 red soldiers that are on the far left of the trench). Keep your eyes open and if you see that MG go down from either our mortars or from Reinhard's platoon, I want you to advance using the distancing craters the mortars left behind for cover and secure our side of the central bunker. My platoon and Reinhard's will provide covering fire should that opportunity present itself. Remember, advance ONLY IF that MG goes down. In the meantime, hold that left flank." With orders now given and set in motion, Johan stepped back up onto the trench platform to look out once more on the enemy bunkers briefly. He had made the first move, it was now up to enemy to make their move... - Legend - Red lines are PROPOSED Allied MG path of fire at start Blue lines are mortar line of fire Pink boxes are former soldier positions Hot Pink boxes are current soldier positions Blue arrows are trooper movements

As moderator of this section, I can't judge here, so someone else will have to judge. Masterson and the detachment of B Company arrived to the battlefield. Masterson took a quick glance at the surrounding area as he ran to reinforce the other soldiers. He could see that the other Americans had set up three bunkers across the field with the center bunker containing a .30 caliber machine gun that was suppressing the enemy with sporadic and continuous fire. Masterson ordered his men to follow him to the left most bunker and to grab cover. The men set themselves up in a defensive manner while Masterson surveyed the field ahead of him. He slowly picked his head up over the bunker to grab his bearings. To his immediate left was an old run down house. On the left side of the wall face him was a normal sized door. To the right of it was a small window, possibly a kitchen window or the W/C, but that wasn’t what Masterson was concerned with. He then turned right and looked down the center of the field. He could see open land and then series of barbed wire followed by an entrenchment. Within this entrenchment were German soldiers trying their best to shoot back at the American soldiers across the field. Masterson went to look to the right some more when a stray bullet zinged past his head. He could hear the hissing sound as it barely grazed his left ear. He quickly dove down and could hear several more hisses fly over the bunker. Masterson looked behind him to see one of his soldiers, Private Dan Fisher, try to lean up and shoot back Masterson went to pull him down. “Fisher! Get dow…..” It was too late. Private Fisher was hit square in the face by an enemy shot. He fell like a rag doll behind the bunker, his eyes wide open, as if it displayed the obvious horror Fisher saw just before he was killed. Masterson leaned up to where Fisher was shot and could make out in the distance two mortars with an active crew. Masterson couldn’t make it out fore sure but it looked like it wouldn’t be long before they started opening fire. Masterson dropped back down and called for some men to come up to him. ”Webb! Eaton! Bloomfield! Up on me!” One by one as their names were called, the men showed themselves in front of Masterson. He then gave out his orders. ”Webb, take Bloomfield and Eaton and approach that house from the left. Get up against the left side of the door and prevent any possibly enemy flanking movement. I‘ll follow up with several others and we‘ll breach the house” Webb nodded to Masterson and gave out a quick “Yessir!” and the men set out for their objective. Masterson then called out another series of names. ”Luz! Powers! Muck! Styles! Garland!” As like the last time, the men arrived upon hearing their name. Masterson informed them of their objective. ”We’re going for that house. I’ve got Webb, Bloomfield, and Eaton establishing a defensive position on it right now. We’re breach and clear it and hopefully get into the trench from their. Be ready to move on my command!” Masterson had his men get in position to run but called out more orders before hand. ”Both Bakers, hold this position and give us covering fire while we move! Cunningham send for Lieutenant Jones and inform him of our movement! He should be on the right flank near the last bunker!” Cunningham gave a half salute and began to run off for Lieutenant Jones’ most likely position at the right flank. Masterson then joined up with the rest of the men who’d be going for the house and prepared to give the order for movement…

After setting the mortars up for attack, Xavier got the order to pin down the enemy. "Set the mortar to 22 degrees at 12 o'clock.", Xavier told his comrade. "Yes sir!" ,was the answer. After setting the mortar Xavier launched it hoping to hit the bunker. It hit the ground 20 meters in front of the sandbags. "Crap! We launched it too short! Set it to 27 degrees towards the same position!", yelled Xavier because of the noise around him. They launched it again. It hit the ground right in front of the sand bags. Xavier hoped with every hit that at least someone would get hit by shrapnell.

- The mortar did little damage to the middle sandbag bunker and slightly injured 2 men in the central but they are still functional.
- Masterson you god modded the death of your own men. You didnt have to do that but you did so allies lost one men.
This mod mark is fair and not biased. I talked it over with axis commander Johan Dieter and came to this conclusion. If anyone has any appropriate problem with this please tell me.

Johan Dieter watched through his binoculars and could see a lot of movement nearest the right-most enemy bunker. Keeping track of where gunfire was coming from, he took a moment to study the scene before coming to the realization that there were now more troops on that bunker than had originally been there. “Hooray for us, more foul mouthed Americans,” he mumbled more to himself than anyone else. He stepped down from the wall once more and noticed that Xavier had gone after the mortars. Johan grabbed the ankle of one of the soldiers on the trench wall calling him down with a finger. “Go and tell our mortars to return fire to my originally ordered targets. And tell Lindenhoppel to get his act together and take command of 5th squad and carry out my original orders,” he said the last part pointing down to the left end of the trench (as noted earlier, 5th squad consists of the 5 Axis troops that are red and furthest to the left in the trench). The soldier saluted and ran off to carry out his orders. Just then, the trench line came alive with small arms. Johan jumped up to the ledge and glanced over to the enemy line through his binoculars. Some of the enemy soldiers were moving toward the newly arrived soldiers in the right bunker. At about the same time, Wolfgang opened fire with his rifle through the house. What windows had not been destroyed by earlier bombardments and looting were quick to shatter under his barrage of fire. Another glance showed that Maurer had also started firing his rifle around the right corner of the house. The two men were clearly trying to prevent an Allied action against the house. Turning to the left and taking a knee, Johan yelled down the line: “Those with line of sight, open fire on the soldiers moving the house!!” Johan once again hopped down from the wall and grabbed his radio set. He snatched the received off of it and spoke: “Bruno-1 calling artillery, ranging on target. Coordinates: 5 degrees, 10 minutes by 46 degrees 21 minutes. Distance: 125 yards ahead of trench. Fire for range!” Johan jumped back onto the ledge and took up his binoculars with one hand while his left held the receiver to his ear. He then watched as the first round came up short of the right bunker, landing between it and house. Johan lowered the binoculars so he could focus on the receiver again. “Adjust range: +50 yards. Fire for range!” He held up the binoculars once more as another round screamed through the air from behind the trenches and even the mortars and landed right where he wanted them. Johan once again spoke into the radio: “On target! Fire for effect!” With those final orders now in place, Johan returned the receiver to its slot on the radio. While he was doing that, a great many thunder claps erupted from behind his line as the artillery units unleashed all hell. He managed to climb back up on the trench wall in time to see the first shells landing on the right bunker. Johan’s first reaction was a fisted cheer and holler as the shells rained down on the bunker to his right. Slapping himself into additional action, he turned and knelt down. “Reinard, get your men up to that house and carry out your original orders! I want that house captured and fortified!” He then yelled up and down the trench line. “Provide covering fire for Reinard once he and his men begin moving on that house! Suppress the enemy; kill them if you can!” At last, Johan unslung his rifle from his body and remained ready to provide the covering fire that would be needed once Reinard made his move. For the first time, he had a brief moment to think and could only admire the bravery of those he was now fighting with. Perhaps he would have thought of more, but with Reinard (hopefully) making his move to house, he had other things to think about… - Legend - Grey dashed lines are rifle fire against Allied soldiers moving on house Small red star is ranging artillery shot, big red star is barrage Blue lines are mortar paths of fire Red dashed lines are weapons fire against Allied as they move from left bunker to central and right bunkers

Private Cunningham returned to Masterson’s position. Following Cunningham was Lieutenant Jones, he leaned up behind Masterson and awaited instructions. Masterson turned around to face Jones and explained the situation. ”Jones, I’m taking the majority of B Company to the house. We’re going to breach and clear it. I want you to move the .30 cal up to where I’m standing right now. Have it lay a base of fire on the right mortar team. Keep them from getting anything up and over us! We’ll then attempted to get into the trench from the left side by the house and clear it out. Have you and the rest of your men move to the right most bunker and cover the left side mortar!”
Masterson gave Jones a smack on the helmet as a sign to get going. Masterson then rallied his men and the group set out for the house. The two Bakers, no relation, stayed back as ordered and provided a series of suppressive fire across the trench so that Masterson and the rest could move up.
As he and his men neared the house, a loud explosion could be heard from behind them. Continuing to run, Masterson quickly turned around to see that a mortar had struck on top of where he and his men just were. He wasn’t sure of the condition of Lieutenant Jones, or the two Bakers, as they were no longer leaning out and shooting. hopefully the three made it out to cover in time.
Masterson and his men approached the house. Already there and waiting were Privates Webb, Bloomfield, and Eaton. They were covering the left side to prevent any enemy flanking movement. Masterson directed orders to his men. “Luz, Styles, stack up on the left side of the door! Cunningham, Garland, cover the right side! Muck, Powers, Eaton you three are on me, we’re going inside!” The men went to their directed positions and prepared to fight. Muck, Powers, and Eaton followed Masterson up to the door. At the door of the house, Masterson stood directly in front of it. Granted it wasn’t the safest of ideas, but he had to move fast. He looked over at the three men behind him. ”Eaton, bust the door in!” Masterson pulled away to the right with Muck and Powers. He took a grenade of his waist belt and pulled off the pin. He held the clamp down and made ready to throw it.
Eaton leaned back on his right leg, lifted his left, and then thrusts with all his weight into the door. It broke the lock and the door swung inwards. Eaton quickly rolled to the left to get out of the way of the opening as Masterson tossed in the grenade. Three seconds went by and an explosion inside was heard. Masterson then lead the way inside. The four men found themselves inside a kitchen. Directly ahead of Masterson was a smaller door leading to a den. To the right was a small hallway that lead down to bedrooms most likely.
Masterson came to the entrance of the den and could see through the front window at least two German soldiers advancing on the house. He yelled back to the men following him, “German infantry out front!” Masterson rushed into the den. To his right was another open door that led to what appeared to be a study.. He directed Eaton into the study, where he then cleared the study window and took up a position. Masterson approached a thick wooden couch against the main den windows and started to pull it to the front door. Powers helped him move it while Muck took up position against the front window. He yelled out to Masterson. ”Sir! I can see the German entrenchment!” Masterson dropped his end of the couch, leaving Powers to finish off blocking the door.
Masterson approached the window next to Muck and could see a surreal sight. To his left was an opening in the barbed wire. Down the right was the barbed wire defenses with the trench directly behind it. The entire thing looked to be twenty feet away from the front of the house. Further back were the two mortar teams, but Masterson couldn’t make out whether or not they were shooting or suppressed. Masterson ordered Muck and Powers to stay below the front window and be prepared to repel a possible German assault on the house. He then ran back to the kitchen and out the back door where he originally came in. He ordered the men on the right side of the wall, privates Cunningham and Garland, to follow him back inside, and ordered Webb, Bloomfield, and Styles to hold the left side should the Germans try to flank out the house. He then grabbed Private Luz by the shoulder and pulled him into the house, causing Luz to cuss under his breath at the surprise pull.
Masterson then went into the den once again with the men he ordered with them. ”Get ready to open up! We’re gonna let those bastards know we’re here!”
As Masterson was preparing to open fire, Private Webb, against the left side of the house, could see a German soldier go up against the front side of the house, on the corner. Webb steadied his rifle and took aim at the figure. He squeezed off two shots at the soldier and saw the body of the man go fully behind the wall, no knowing if he hit him or not.
Masterson raised his M1 up and then yelled at the top of his lungs, “OPEN FIRE!” All at once the weapons of eight soldiers opened up, breaking the glass and shooting out towards the trench and the mortar teams. Masterson knew they couldn’t do this for too long, as the mortar teams would quickly catch on and attempt to destroy the house, with them still in it. But he needed to keep the fire on to give Lieutenant Jones and his men, along with the machine gun some time to move.
*Update* - Masterson and his men moved out before the mortar struck, but the two Bakers' fates are to be determined by a mod, as they stayed behind to provide cover. - Eight soldiers are inside the house, I assume it's a single story home, three on the left side by the back door to prevent a flanking movement.

******Mod Mark******
- OK this one is at Johan, All the bullets fired either went stray or missed. However the explosion highly damaged the right bunker and killed 2 allied soldiers and heavily injured one man.
- This is at Masterson, you have managed to break and occupy into the house successfully with little injuries.
- This is at Reinard, Your men are still in the bunker. The two men who went with you into the bunker was killed but you managed to dive into the bunker without much injury.

Xavier commanded his men to keep firing on position. With every shot he had hoped to pin down the enemy. "Keep firing at a moderate speed! The enemy needs to get pinned down.", he yelled barely hearing his own voice because of the noise of guns shooting and mortars banging. "Damn! We can't do this for long. We are slowly running out of ammo. I hope Rolf and the others are winning this battle.", Xavier said to himself. Because of the ruckus he barely heard anything. Xavier then sent one of his men to look over the wall to check how far the others had gotten.

]Masterson continued to pull away at the trigger on his M1 Garand. Two Germans had fallen before them outside of the house, it was a good start in Masterson’s opinion. They continued to provide harassing fire until Masterson thought Lieutenant Jones had made it to his next objective.
Masterson continued to shoot, and while he was finishing reloading, he saw the head of a German soldier pick his head up over the trench wall. Masterson grinned as he took aim and squeezed off two shots for the German’s head. Not knowing if it was a hit, Masterson moved his fire down the trench to ensure no other Germans tried to get a look at them.
After what seemed to be an eternity of shooting, Masterson gave the call to cease fire. He waved his hand over and out to signal no more gunfire. It was now time for them to move. They had stayed inside the house long enough for the mortar crews to catch on. Any longer inside would be assured death. Masterson then directed orders to his men. ”Garland, Luz, Muck, Styles! You’re on me, we’re busting out this front window! Cunningham, Powers, Fisher! Go around the back side of the house! Link up with Webb and the others and have them come around on the extreme left! We breach the trench as one!”
The men acted on the orders as soon as they were given. Privates Cunningham, Powers, and Fisher left through the original entrance they had come in on and went around the house to link up with Webb and the other two soldiers. There, Cunningham informed Webb to meet up with Masterson at the trench where the barbed wire was non-exsistant. Webb and the other five soldiers then began to move for the trench.
Masterson and his men too began to move. Not wanting to take up anymore time, Masterson and his men climbed through the front windows. Or at least where the windows once stood. By moving under the covering fire of the .30 caliber machine gun, Masterson felt content on this move.
Masterson and his group then met up with Webb and the other five soldiers with him. They took cover near the entrance of the trench. Masterson looked up at Webb. ”All right! Everyone, fix bayonets! We use grenades first and move after the blast and through the smoke! Webb, give me a grenade!”
Webb took a grenade from his belt and handed it to Masterson, who pulled the pin from it and clamped down on the safety bar. He then looked back up at his men and looked around at each and every one of them. He grinned. ”If you haven’t done so yet, I suggest you find God.” Masterson then released the clamp on the grenade and tossed it down into the trench. Seconds went by and the explosion rocked the immediate area. Masterson and his men then filled into the trench under the cover of the blast smoke. However, as the smoke cleared, Masterson began to order suppressive fire down the trench line, should any Germans still be in there.
**Update** - Me and 10 of my men are breaching into the trench where there is no barbed wire, facing down the trench line. - Chances are now me and my men are too close to be hit by mortars. I’d like to request such a ruling.

Reinard and his men moved down to the no barbed wire zone of the trench to get a better position, Reinard could barely hear anything, "OK, Men, i have a bad feeling about today's battle!" Yelled Reinard over the shelling and constant fire. " Remember don't stop firing for nothing" Said Reinard preparing his men for whatever was going to happen, He thought about that if he lost one of his men how guilty he would feel, "Men if you get captured Don't Tell the Americans shit, they will kill you after you tell if you don't they will most likely release us" said reinard he saw the grenade land in the trench. "Granate! die Amerikaner dringen unseren Graben vorbereiten Bajonette ein!" Yelled Reinard. BOOM the grenade went off sending shrapnel everywhere. "Mein gott im himmel" reinard thought. As the Fire began Reinard saw his men trying to fire back. Reinard Held his arms in the air and yelled "Ich übergebe! Männer übergeben den Amerikanern, die wir diesen Kampf verloren haben" Said Reinard English translations:Grenade! the americans are invading our trench prepare bayonets! My God In Heaven I Surrender! As the smoke cleared from the grenade blast, Masterson could see roughly a half dozen German soldiers approaching. Only not with the intent to kill. They were coming to surrender! Masterson couldn’t believe it. He turned back to his men and waved his hand down, signifying them not to open fire unless fire upon.
As the surrendering Germans neared, Masterson called for Private Fisher to come up front. Fisher had studied German while in college before the war, and had been used as an interpreter on D-Day. Fisher came up behind Masterson and waited for orders. Masterson gave them. ”Fisher, these men are looking to surrender, but the rest of them will most likely keep fighting. I want you and Webb to take these prisoners to the house, put them away in the bedrooms and have them put their weapons outside the house against the wall.” Fisher nodded to Masterson and with Webb, the two quickly moved to begin escorting the prisoners outside the trench and to the house.
As this was happening, Masterson saw other German soldiers down the trench. Soldiers not surrendering. Masterson had his men begin to rush the trench. He let out a large battle cry and shot his rifle as he ran, eight of his men following in the same manner. With his rifle out in front of him, with the bayonet at the end, Masterson was sure they were going to win this. All seemed to go well.
