What Army Will You Serve Beneath? : Nazi/German Army
Nationality: German
Character History:
Born December 25th, 1895 to a moderately wealthy family in the countryside of a small town called “Wilhelmshaven”, in a small home right on the coast of Germany, Fredrich Von Luger grew to love the sea from birth. When he was only four years old, he was learning to swim from his father, whom had also loved the sea, he was a Rear-Admiral in the High Seas Fleet at the time.Writing Sample:
When the war broke out, he had to see his father off, and was extremely upset, but decided that instead of crying, he would follow in the footsteps of his Father, now the Captain of a Dreadnought. He watched his father’s ship steam away, part of the Great White Fleet, and on that day, knew he would get the British and French Back for taking his father away to go to war.
As he continued to age, he began to love the sea more and more, and by the age of ten, after the War ended and Germany lost the war, His father returned, a very different man. He had grown very skinny, and had begun to completely despise the Western Most Powers, Especially France and The British, whom had taken his prized Dreadnought away from him.
As Fredrich continued to age, he would listen to the great marvels and stories that his Father would tell him, especially the times he would speak of his ship and her crew sinking British Dreadnoughts and French Warships. He would grow, even more, to love the entire fabric and ideal of the Sea.
When he aged to fifteen, his views starkly changed, and he began to want to become a Religious Person, and would learn to be a Pastor at a small Religious school far from The Sea. He would spend hours and hours reading the Bible at this school, and learning the practices and things that went about with his Religion, Roman Catholic. He would eventually become a pastor at the age of 20 years old.
After his Graduation from the Pastoral School, he would go in search of a church that needed one, and after a year and a half, he would be hired to do mass at a small church in the German Countryside, on the border of Denmark. For three years, he would be one of the town’s favorite people, and regarded as a great Man, and an even better Pastor.
Unfortunately, the Church that he was Pastor at would soon run into Debt, and he would end up having to find a second job to support the church that he would love. At the age of almost 25, he joined the German Navy, well, the remnants of it, and learns Naval Tactics and Maneuvers off the coast of the Town of Sassnitz. After six months of teachings by high ranking officers, he graduated Top of His class, and the rank of Oberleutnant zur See, or Senior Lieutenant.
As he continued to move up the ranks, he would never forget the people back in the small town of Flensburg, where his church as, and every paycheck he received would go back to the church to support it and to keep it alive. He would often write to the church people, especially the nuns, whom he liked very much, you could say he even has a crush on one of them, but because of their oath to never marry, their relationship never was more than a good friendship between Pastor and Nun.
Within ten years, he would gradually move up the Rank Latter, until the year 1933, when he was a Korvettenkapitän, or Commander, and he learned of something that would change the world for ever.
That was the year when Adolf Hitler took power. As a child he had only learned of the failed attempt by this man, this convict, to take power, and now he was the most powerful man in Germany! He set it aside, though, thinking nothing of it, until he heard the plans he had for the German Navy. The first thing, it being Renamed, To “Kriegsmarine”.
He loved to read about the great ideas Hitler had for the Navy, he wanted to build it back up to what it once was, or even better! Being a high ranking officer, with a father being a Rear-Admiral, he would learn of his great plan, “Plan Z”, to completely rebuild the German Navy, and to rule the Atlantic Ocean and Baltic Sea!
On June 19th, 1937, he would get the chance to meet the Great man himself, at a party for the christening of the Battleship “Bismarck”. He got the chance to have a good long talk with Hitler after the initial christening, and would soon end up being one of Hitler’s top men in the Kriegsmarine, exchanging Letters back and forth, and talking about family, especially his Father, explaining how he was a Rear Admiral in the High Seas Fleet, and how he had many of the same views as Herr Hitler.
He was sure that someday, now, he would become a Rear Admiral, just like his father, because he believed that he had a great friendship with this man. As he overviewed the Kriegsmarine growth, he found himself being promoted, by orders of Herr Hitler Himself. At that Ceremony, he would be Promoted to Fregattenkapitän, or Frigate Captain, and be placed in command of the Heavy Cruiser “Blücher” Only six months before the war began, little to his knowledge.
When the War Broke out, his ship was ordered to patrol the Baltic Sea, in search for renegade Norwegian ships or Russian ships, that, by Treaty, were not supposed to be there.
During this patrol, his Ship came under fire by a Norwegian Destroyer while connected to an Arms Transport ship, restocking its load of Anti Aircraft Rounds. Soon after the Transport was hit, he ordered his men to untie their ship to the fast-sinking and burning Transport, and move to a safe distance before it exploded, so they could return fire on the Destroyer. They did so, and soon the Norwegian ship sank to the bottom of the Baltic Sea. After this Battle, he would be promoted, once again, to Kapitän
When the war ended, he and his crew had to make a Decision, Surrender their proud ship to the allies, or scuttle it to the bottom of the sea, they made a third choice, and continued to fight to the last round, sinking twenty more ships, including twelve German ships that were going to surrender, before surrounded by American ships and forced to surrender.
After his interrogation by the American Navy, he was given the option to return to Germany, or be given a very special chance, and join the American Navy and teach new recruits the advanced tactics and maneuvers he learned, he chose to go back to Germany, and is still the Pastor at the same little church in Flensburg.

The Quietness of the Baltic Sea slowly soothed Fredrich’s worries that tonight would be a bad night. As a Supply ship steadily floated towards their heavy Cruiser, ordered to re-supply their ship of Anti Aircraft Rounds, he had no idea what was to ensue soon. He looked up towards the dark sky, and smiled, walking up to the Bridge, and saying hello to the men that he passed by, he was a popular person, for an officer at-least.
When he arrived in the Bridge, he looked at his Skipper, then down at the Cargo Ship, which had coupled with his Heavy Cruiser, and began to move Rounds from their cargo hold to his. After a few minutes, Fredrich looked over at his Skipper, and said “Well, it looks like my nerves are..”
He was about to finish his sentence, when he stopped. He heard the faint squeal of what sounded like shells incoming, and soon yelled “GET DOWN!”
As soon as he and the rest of his officers in the bridge got to the ground, a loud explosion followed. He stood up, and looked out at the Cargo ship, it was ablaze in fire, and the men on his Cruiser were standing there in shock.
He walked over to the P.A system, and picked up the Microphone, and yelled into it “MEN! DISCONNECT US FROM THAT SHIP NOW! WE ARE UNDER FIRE FROM AN ENEMY SHIP!”
He set the microphone back down on the table, and ran over to the window, watching his men follow their orders, and begin to untie the ropes, soon they realized that some they wouldn’t be able to untie in time, and as injured men were trickling onto their ship, the final rope was cut, and Fredrich yelled at his Navigation officer “FULL SPEED AHEAD!”
He watched the man nod, saying “Yes Sir!” and run over to the Navigation Communication, picking up its microphone sitting on a table, and yelled into it “Full Speed ahead at Thirty Five Knots!”
Fredrich picked up a pair of Binoculars, and the rest of his Crew did the same, all of them scanning the horizon for the enemy ship that had fired on them. After a few minutes, Fredrich grew angry, and yelled “Where the Hell is it!?”
Right after he said that, one of his crew, The Skipper, said “Enemy Destroyer spotted on our 10 O’clock! Two Miles out!”
He turned towards his ten o’clock, and looking through his binoculars, finally found what his Skipper said. He saw the faint lights of a small Norwegian Destroyer, two miles away. He looked at his Skipper, and said “Order Frontal Guns to fire on that ship!”
The skipper nodded, and Fredrich heard him barking orders into the Gunnery Hole, and soon watched the five main 14 inch guns slowly turn towards the ships 10 O’clock. He looked around, and listened as his Skipper said “We’re ranged in sir, ready to fire.”
Fredrich nodded, waiting a few moments, before saying “Turn the Gramophone Player on, Maybe Der Alte Deusser, and project it through the P.A System.”
The skipper smiled, it was Fredrich’s tradition to blast music through the ships P.A System during the heat of a battle, it seemed to, maybe, calm the whole thing down. He soon heard the gramophone turn on blasting music all around the ship, and the men below looked up at the Bridge, then towards where the main cannons were aiming at. Fredrich smiled, and yelled “FIRE!”
His Skipper yelled the same thing into the Gunnery Hole and after a few seconds, the five main Guns opened fire, Causing Fredrich to almost fall over. He picked up his Binoculars which had fallen to the ground, and looked towards the Norwegian Destroyer, as four Pillars of Water blasted up, but something was wrong, where was the Fifth? He soon got his answer, and watched the Fifth shell crash into the Destroyer, blowing it in half right in the middle of it.
Fredrich smiled, and said “Fire two more salvos on that same spot, just to make sure they are dead. They will pay for the dead men on that Transport.”
The Skipper nodded, and within two minutes, the next two salvos went off, two shells hitting the front half of the destroyer, and one on the back end of it, assuring Fredrich it would no longer cause him any harm.
He looked around at his men, with a large smile on his face, and said “Well men, we did it! Now let us go collect the wounded and dead men of that Supply Transport, and see if we can’t salvage any of the Ammunition if it didn’t sink yet.”
The Navigation Officer nodded, and ordered the ship to turn around, and head to the wreck of the Supply Ship.
After five minutes, they soon were at a dead stop next to the Supply Ship. It was severely crippled, tilting towards the edge of the water, but the surviving crew had managed to keep the fire away from the ammo stores, and put them out in time for them to return. The Crew of Fredrich’s ship soon threw over ropes so that the Supply Ships Crew could tie the ships together, and the wounded began to flow onto the Blücher. After a few minutes, he heard the door of the Bridge open, and He and His officers turned around, and welcomed the Captain and the Skipper of the Supply Ship inside.
Fredrich looked at the Captain, a Kapitänleutnant, and asked “Where is the rest of your Officer Group?”
He looked back at Fredrich, and saluted, saying “We are all that are left, the rest were killed in the initial blast, over-watching the ammunition transfer.”
“Well, You can be sure that you’re men were avenged.” Fredrich Responded
“Do you know what hit us, sir?” The man replied.
“Yes, a Norwegian Destroyer, or at-least it was a Norwegian Destroyer. Now it’s a pile of scrap metal at the bottom of the Baltic Sea.”
