Do I have to be a member of the 101st Division to sign-up for skirmishes? Because it seems that's the only division available and I don't see how my character could serve under it.

You don't have to be a member, and your member could serve under it if you wanted.

Well, since my character is from New Zealand he could only possibly be from the 2nd New Zealand Division. So I guess what my question was, was is the 101st the only division that is able to sign up for skirmishes? or is it possible to be part of a division that is not exactly formed as such. (we could just put this division under the control of NPCs)?

You do not have to join a Division at all to participate in skrimishes or such on the board, there are some advantages to it, but you don;t have to.
