Hans felt a blast of warm air and noise as he opened the door to the tavern. He smiled as he saw a pretty young blond singing infront of a rowdy crowd. Guess the party already started, Hans thougt to himself. He walked over to the bartender and said "I'll have some of the Russian stuff" Hans said, moitioning too the bottle of Vodka on the shelf.

As the bartender walked off to get his order, he noticed a Corporal and a Private start a fist fight. Hans touched his luger, just incase some jerk wants too pick a fight.

The bartender returned with Han's vodka. "Hey, tell the cook I want some of those fried potatoes. Large, i'm a bit hungry." Hans said with a wink, and then sat on a stool, sipped his vodka, and watched the pretty blond.

Nikolai had no idea way his platoon was stationed so far way from the fighting and to make matters worse, very close proximities to the Germans. Nikolai never had such a strong hatred for them as he did know, after what they did to his home land. It sickened him to know that at this moment Germans ran wild, like mad dogs ravaging the land he called home. Angered by the lack of successes his platoon hade, he thought he minus well go for a drink in the town they know was stationed for the time being. Nikolai thought he go do what most solders did when times where ruff, go drown there sorrows in liquor and a good time out. This might replace the urge he had before, to go up to a higher ranking officer and demand to be relocated. But this, of course was no option, he knew the very thought would get him shot for insubordination.

Nikolai made his way into a near by tavern, it seemed nothing like the ones he was use to at home. It was as if he was in a whole new world, none the less at this point anything would do. He looked around noticing a few unfriendly faces non in which he could associate with, or more like he choose not to. He manage to squeeze his way through the tavern , his presents Unbounded to any one else. One reason this was so, was he had to hide his pride for his mother land under civilian cloths.

This was so strange to Nikolai, And to make matters worse his lack of the language, and different features that was unlike the people of his enemy. Either way Nikolai mad sure to keep his distance exurban the strange customs of the people he hated so much. Nikolai noticed a few German solders fighting, he found this as sick and pathetic, to see people under the same service fighting like school children. This led Nikolai to think that the German where ignorant and had no self respect for its people. On the other side he saw a man enjoying a drink at the bar, and to the other far side a blond woman. One in which to Nikolai was noting like the woman he was accustomed to, she had long blond hair.

She was attractive and he might dear say beautiful, but she was still of the same blood as the men who raped and murdered the woman of his home land. This and this and many more things made Nikolai want to hurt her the same way the man of her county hurt the woman of his country. But as equal as that seemed he knew it was very unwise, and his own blind rage could lead to his demise. So unwillingly, Nikolai broke his gaze of the woman of his enemy and found himself a set at the bar. He ordered himself a whiskey, something he was quick found of and was a favorite back home. He sat back and enjoyed his drink pondering and watching as his enemies enjoyed themselves ,unaware that one of there enemies where in that very room

Hans had just ordered another vodka as a Russian sat down on the barstool next too him. Hans was impressed by this mans boldness, so he extended his hand hoping for a shake. "Hello, comrade!" he said in his best Russian. "Hans is the name. Yours?"

Nikolai was busy enjoying his whisky when out no where the man next to him spoke to him, and to add insult to energy in Russian. Nikolai turned to look at the man at once utter shock was in his face he was speech less he wounded how did he know, was it that obvious he was sure he was in top disguise. He even went as far as trying to draw as little attention to himself as possible. Well either way he knew he was in a real jam and he had to make sure not to be to noticeable even if his cover was blown, he knew as well as the Germans even though there counters where fighting, in some small way they where once allies. On this small hope he hoped he get out of this unconfterbul situation . He grinned at first acting as if he had no idea what the man had said , then he put on his best fake smile ad replied.

“my names Nikolai , im new here, iv been traveling all around looking for work”. he knew every thing expert his name was a lie but he knew he had no other choose. It was either this or imprisonment or worse death, even though he strongly hated the German ,he knew to survive he had to befriend one. Not really, but for the sack of his life and perhaps he be foolish enough to give a bit of information . At first he looked at the mans hand , he rather fight Hitler himself then Have to shake this mans hand. But he knew he had no chose he was turning down a path with no regrets it was this or death. He too the mans hand and shook it, holding back the hate and disgust for the man. He smiled trying to hold on the best he could to the little dignity he had left” so you’re with the army I see” he said in a poorly attempt of German. This made him sick to his stomach, but he knew what ever he could obtain might be useful latter.

The Russian shook his hand, but he had this forced smile on his face. He immeadiatly realized that the Russian hated him, and Hans could'nt blame him.

"Trust me, i'm not going to pull this luger on you. And if you are holding a grudge for terrorizing your country, I bet you can't look me in the eyes and tell me that you would'nt do the same thing if I was the defender and you were the invader."

A waitress came with a plate of fried potatoes and some vodka. Hans ate one, and then offered them to the Russian.

Nikolai figured that the man was on t his little shared, the look on his face told him all. A look of almost sympathy came across his face, this led Nikolai to wonder was the Germans capable of such action. It seemed almost impossible but sure enough for a split moment he felt kind of crummy about being so obnoxious

But this soon faded as the man went on ,with each word it flied the dying anger within him, until it was know a informal utter out rage. He banged his fist onto the bar sending his glass crashing to the ground, few people around him looked but his next action might cost him ,so he had to make sure to choose them carefully. He gave the man a cold glare his face red and teeth clenched in rage.” if rape and pillaging and thievery like savages is how you settle things, then no we don’t do such infantile things. Your country is full of lies and crooks, I bet there isn’t a honest to god person among you all. Do you fear us so much ,you foolishly go blindly into a battle with a force you cant reconcile with? To me your nothing but mad men fowling a lone with goals of self destruction. To think we actually helped you at one point, and how do you repay us by back stabbing us like cowards”

He said this with every being of his body , hatred radiated off of every orifices of his body . He knew he had too be careful what he sad, of course he realized it was probably too late to realize this.he sat down looking around seeing if any one hared the heated conversation, he knew at this point his life lied in the balance of this man, his next action would determine life or death. Nikolai slowly reached for his knife he knew if he was going down he was going with a fight. Nikolai ignored the mans offer not even looking at the plate he rather starve then eat off a plate offered by the murder of his people, he wounded what the hell was he doing in here in the first place. What stupid idea told him to come here he should have stayed back in the forest with the rest of his platoon. At this point the wished he had ,he wounded why was so hot blooded and stub run who could such a man lead a platoon.

Hans watched as the Russian flew into a rage. He calmly drew his luger and pointed it at the Russians head. "I could kill you right now and no one would care. Just another dead Russian. But i'm not" Hans said, taking the luger down and opening it's chamber. The bullets fell out one by one, clanging on the floor.

Hans set the luger down on the table next to his plate and took another potato. He saw that the Russian had his hand on his knife. "Do you dare attack me? Do you dare?" Hans said in disbelif. " I am no worse than you are. We're both out here, following orders from insane commanders. Thats right, I just called both the fuerur and Stalin lunatics. I could be executed for saying that. But everyone here wouldnt report me, because deep down, they know I'm right." Hans said. Damn, I am getting drunk, Hans thought.
"Go ahead, you want to attack me, go ahead. With the knife. I am completly unarmed." Hans said, stabbing his own knife into the bar. "Come on, kill me"

Nikolai’s breathing became hard and quick as the man pulled out his pistil and pointed it at his head. He looked around noticing almost every one was know watching, out of the corner of his eye he could see a few German solders eying them. Waiting for the nearest struggle out of him so they have a reason to shoot. All who they love that, but Nikolai new if he died know he Finlay be at peace, no fighting no warring no more suffering. But he knew that was not how it must end ,deep down inside he knew he had to live, to carry out the duty to end this war at last. To once again bring peace amongst his home and make the men who caused this suffer the way they did to his people.

Nikolai was in pure shook as the man empted his pistil before him, at this he knew parapets he was just plying with him, maybe he was going to make him his prisoner so the solders could torture him. He didn’t want the solders to have that satisfaction, he rather die then to go to the hands of these sinless dogs. He watched as the bullets fell to the floor, it seemed as if Nikolai whole body was stiff. His mind went into a deep hibernation unable to make dissociations any more. He looked around noticing every one seemed to go about there business, every one but the solders who still watched like a halk. Waiting for him to slip up he saw there hands all wrapped tight around there guns, he watched in shock as the man set his pistol down.

Nikolai couldn’t help but wonder what the man was playing at, was he just distracting him until the police arrived to tack him away. He wished that one of his mean would walk into the doors right at this moment and help him out, but he knew this was inedible. His men where all safe at camp ,some of them safe in bed unaware of what happening to there sergeant. He dear not blink as the man know caught glimpse of him reaching for his knife, he was speechless, sweet rolled of his fingers and head down his back and down his shirt. After cluttering words together in his head he finely spoke , no emption showed as he did.” No I am no coward…….” that was all he had managed to say as the man went on, disbelief stuck him as he spoke ill of his beloved fuerur as well as his leader. Was he deaf did he just hear what he thought he herd ?


Either this man was crazy or stupid, he knew for sure if the others caught world of what he had to say they execute him on the spot, but nothing was done. Nikolai turned to the solders all eying him coldly he was shocked to see every on of them seem not to move. Perhaps what the man said was true perhaps they where crazy, but the level of betrayal for there so called fuerur sickened him. What kind of men follow a leader they them self drought .and like snakes comet treason behind his back but never appose him to his face. Surly these are not mean but dammed souls flowing a demon out of sure fear of what might happen if they dear question him. This could not be done at home he knew very well such acts where strongly looked down on, and any revolution would be put to an end abruptly.

Nikolai watched as the an went on, he couldn’t help but laugh no matter how pathetic it seemed it was to sad to be true. Nikolai watched as the man pulled his own knife egging him on to attack him, he shook his head and grind” why should I attack you I can not trust you, how do I know you might have a gun I hiding or signal one of your men to shoot me. Who can I trust a man who question his own leader the same one they pledge to him and invades countries for?” he backed up a few feet looking around noticing everyone watching some of them with rage others with deisms. He put his knife back into pocket and once again took a set feeling a bit more control know knowing this knowledge. He took a sip of his drink before specking once again, he noticed the bar tender didn’t look pleased he looked eager for him to leave before any one was killed mostly himself.” you people are a sad bunch ,you cowered under one man, yet you don’t support him but you fight a war for him. Never before have I seen such a pathetic bunch of people to think people actually fear you “ he laughed at this with much disgust in his face.

Hans cheeks grew red as the Russian went on. How dare he come into a German bar, on a great evening, and insulted Han's race. He grabbed the soldiers coller, flung him onto the floor, and spat on him. "This is why people fear us."

Nikolai watched as the man got madder and madder, he knew he would pop sooner or later. At this point the could care less, then a tough hit him it could be worse, he could be in the hands of the Americans. Even tough they where a some what allied for Russia , Nikolai and many other Russians still didn’t trust them.

Perhaps this man’s people only turned on Russia in fear that Russia would brake its pack first, he knew this was unlikely but then again his government had done radical things before. Nikolai stared into the German offenses eyes, his full of hate fir every thing this man stood for. He baled his fist as the man spat on him, he knew no matter what he had to hold in his rage, after all revenge would come soon enough and on swift feet.

Nikolai managed to free his hands and shoved him off, the solders around know circled them guns pointed at him. He knew if he was to survive and return to his troops to resume his mission he had to show this man a bit of sympathy, not permeably but until he was safe.” I see no reason to fear you , you where once our fowl, why turn on us? Is it wrong to only ask to turn things back they way it use to be? With our two combined powers all of the world will be ours.Nikolai half meant every thing he just said, he knew as well as the Americans that they where a threat to reckon with combined.
