The deuce and a half truck made it's way over the small dusty road into Carentan. It turned left and slowed into the market center where a large group of Allied soldiers were being regrouped and preparing to move out.
The truck came to a stop next to a small church. Out from the back stepped out one man, Captain Masterson. He waved to several men in the back as the truck revved up again and rolled out of the area. Masterson turned away from the truck leaving and looked around.
He saw many troops bustling about and making way to prepare for deployment. He saw units marching in unison, logistics officers loading trucks filled with ammunition. There were patches of every division known from D-Day. 101st, 82nd, 1st, 3rd, 4th, 29th. You name it, the division was there.
It was loud. Men talking, shouting orders, laughing. Some crying.
Masterson began to walk towards a small café. There he saw several dozen superior officers. He entered the café and removed his helmet. He did not salute the officers, out of fear of any possible snipers in the area. He simply motioned for a Lieutenant who came up to him. The Lieutenant nodded to Masterson, who then waited to hear Masterson speak.
"Can you tell me where Colonel Winters is? He's of the 506th, 101st."
The Lieutenant nodded to Masterson.
"Yes sir. He's upstairs speaking with division. Sit here and I'll send for him."
The Lieutenant sped off before Masterson could thank him. He then sat down at a vacant table and placed his helmet on top. He looked around outside and watched the soldiers move in and out of the area as he waited for Winters' arrival.

Winters was sitting up stairs at his desk speaking with his XO, and a few other of his Company/Platoon Commanders. When a Lt. Came in. The Lt. Stood their waiting as Winter's finished his, speech amongst his officers.
Winters sat down shuffling through papers as his officers left. Then after silence had rendered the room. The Lt. Went to attention and said " Colonel Winters....... Sir, there is a Capt. Masterson down Stairs who wishes to speak with you"
"Ah yes, Masterson" Said winters. " Uh... Go ahead and send him on up here Lt. if he wishes to speak to me, it is probably important, and I have work to do." The Lt. Replied, " Yes sir." Stepping back and saluting, then exiting the room.
The Lt. Walked down stairs, approaching Masterson. Saluting, he said "Sir, the Colonel, would like to see you upstairs, he would rather you come on up he has work to do.

(Be sure to read my "It's just a flesh wound, Doc" thread as it'll relate to this conversation).
Masterson nodded at the Lieutenant. He then gathered his gear and made way upstairs. He came to a small open office on the left and made his presence known at the door. He stood at attention within the frame of the opening and snapped a salute.
"Sir, Captain Masterson, reporting as requested sir."
He then went to rest and slowly walked up to the Colonel's desk. He held his helmet in his right arm next to his ribcage but then decided to set it on the chair next to him so he could remove some things from his jacket. He pulled out a silk map of Normandy and started to unfold a quarter of it. He then laid it in front of Colonel Winters.
"Sir, I have here an update for the assault at Brecourt Manor."
Masterson took the pen from his shoulder pocket and pointed at the area labeld "Brecourt 0766" on the map. He drew a circle around it and then made four X marks in a right angle form.
"We were able to capture and destroy the four 105mm Howitzers around the manor. I myself was hit by a grenade and was knocked out before we were able to kick off. However, my company sergeant was able to rally the men of first platoon and proceed in continuing the mission. We suffered several casualties, one KIA, eight WIA. German casualties are unknown, but are estimated in the low dozens."
Masterson then stood back up to allow the Colonel to view the map.
