I don't think the tank would be appropriate. Beings the Howitzers cannot be used it is a little much. The real battle was done with only Infantry and a 30 Cal.

The Sun beat down on the men of first platoon as they made a quick pace down the hedgerows. At the front of the columns was Captain Masterson leading. He held his M1 Garand at the waist as he kicked his legs across the soggy warm Earth that was the country side of France. They were on a mission that was handed down to them from regimental brass. There was word that a battery of German 105mm cannons were in the area and were prepared to fire down on Utah Beach, which could potentially halt any Allied armor from reaching the beach, and could then ruin hopes for a successful link up of armor from Omaha Beach at Carentan.
The platoon continued quick pace as they made their way down what use to be a farming patch. The rows of dried soil and dead stocks of wheat could be seen bent over and exhausted by the heat and humidity. The soldiers came down to the bottom area of the farm, a large hedgerow stood in front of them. Masterson ordered the men to lay low and called up for a runner. Private Holt came to Masterson and Masterson gave him his orders.
”Holt, crawl under the hedgerow and see what you can make of what’s on the other side. Then come back and report to me.” Holt nodded to Masterson and started making his way for the brush. He crawled down below the branches and pulled himself across the leaves slowly by efficiently. As Holt approached the exit side of the brush, he stood still and looked around.
In front of Holt was a small triangular shaped clearing. To the left a little bit, through some light bushes, however, he could make out the shape of an artillery piece. It was one of the cannons. Holt then looked more towards the left and could see the makings of a trench system and as it went down the path, where more guns laid. He also saw an MG42 just near him, but unoccupied, at least for now.
Holt could then see several figures approaching the area from behind the guns. He could make out the lead men as German soldiers. He knew then they were there to man the guns and to begin firing them. Holt slid back through the brush and reported back to Masterson. He informed him of the guns’ locations and the German infantry that was arriving.
Masterson called up the Company First Sergeant, Adam Webb, and started to hand out orders. ”Take Fisher, Styles, Rogers, and Blithe and make your way to that triangular clearing, establish a defensive position and prepare to lay down a base of fire. Wait for my grenade to open fire. Webb nodded to Masterson and assembled his men. The squad set out for their objective. Masterson then called for Sergeant Powers. ”Shifty, take Muck, Tally, Allen, and Lafitte and move through the thick of the hedgerow, assemble your rifles down the trench to establish a base of fire on the other guns.” Powers gave a semi-salute and gathered his men as they moved for their objective. Masterson then gathered around the rest of the men.
”All right listen up, we’ve gut for guns that form a right angle. The first gun is directly in front of us and the second is just past the thick of the brush. The final two are towards the southeast forming the right angle. We’ll open up on the first gun and take it over. From there we will establish a base of fire from Sgt. Power’s gun crew and work our way down the trench. Use your grenades as you move down and keep low in the trench work.” Masterson gave a nod of insurance to his men as the ordered them to follow him to the jump off point. They gathered under the brush in front of the first gun and stood ready.
Masterson took a grenade from a soldier next to him and pulled the pin. He clamped down on the handle as he watched the Germans approach. All was silent as the Germans had no idea of the Americans’ presence. And the battle that was soon to follow.Current location on the map. Axis are unaware of Americans' presence.
