Zeke Sturm was running towards the track, his weapons clanking on his back, trying to get to the shooting range. He had just received a new M1 Garand, and it was scoped. He was going to try it out on some poor innocent pumpkins, watermelons, and try to shoot the apples off the half track 300 yards away. He got there, and found some other snipers there as well. Most of them were ranked lower than him, with another staff sergeant presiding over the affair. He had them check their fire, and went out and placed his targets. He got to the section that had the shooters in it, and knelt behind a hay bale. Lining up the crosshairs of his scope with a pumpkin, he pulled the trigger, sending a round about five inches higher, and two inches to the left of where it should've gone. He fiddled with the elevation and windage knobs, and fired again. It knocked off the stem, just a tad bit off still. He adjusted the elevation again, and fired accordingly. The next shot shattered the pumpkin. He then took aim at a watermelon, which was further away. Firing again, he sent what was left of the poor fruit laying about on the ground. His aim still needed work, though, and practice makes perfect.
